Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered flooring is more stable than Solid Wood flooring due to the cross-grain construction process. This means that where solid wood flooring is susceptible to expansion and contraction, caused by natural temperature and humidity swings, the engineered board will be much less likely to move as its layers pull against each other.

The top layer of engineered boards is still made from the hardwood timber, such as Oak, Walnut, etc. and can still be sanded further down the line. The lower layers are made from less expensive and much more easily sustainable wood, such as Spruce.
